A Catholic-rooted prison ministry

No one is beyond the reach of mercy.

Emmanuel AD connects the faithful with the forgotten — writing to the incarcerated so that no one, anywhere, is left entirely alone.

“I was in prison and you came to me.” — Matthew 25:36

The work of mercy

How a letter begins

I.

Choose someone

Browse the men and women on our Write to Prisoners page. Each listing carries a name, a facility, and a mailing address — everything you need to reach them.

II.

Write with kindness

Introduce yourself. Share an ordinary day, a word of encouragement, a prayer. Sincerity matters far more than eloquence.

III.

Send it with care

Follow the facility's simple mail rules — our FAQ walks you through them — and drop it in the mail. Mercy travels for the price of a stamp.

“Remember those in prison as if you were together with them in prison.”Hebrews 13:3

“But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

Romans 5:8
Why we write

Removing the stigma, one letter at a time

Our mission, first and foremost, is to remove the stigma of writing to prisoners — to humanize them, and to highlight their potential to be fully rehabilitated and transformed by the love of Christ, and your letters of hope and mercy.

By writing to these prisoners, we are in no way justifying what they did, but extending the mercy of Christ to them — because no one is beyond the grace of Our God.
